Creating a Token Launch
Runner Protocol provides a step-by-step wizard to configure and launch your token through a Continuous Clearing Auction. The process involves five configuration steps followed by three on-chain transactions.
Overview
The launch wizard guides you through configuring your token and auction parameters. Once you review and confirm, three Solana transactions are submitted to create the token mint, initialize escrows, and start the auction.
Step 1: Token Details
Configure the basics of your token:
- Token Name -- The full name of your token (e.g., "My Protocol Token")
- Token Symbol -- The ticker symbol (e.g., "MPT")
- Image URI -- A URL pointing to your token's logo image
- Total Supply -- The total number of tokens that will ever exist
- Decimals -- Token precision (typically 6 or 9 for Solana tokens)
Your token will be created using the Token-2022 standard with MetadataPointer, which embeds metadata directly in the mint account.
Step 2: Duration
Set the timing parameters for your auction:
- Auction Length -- How long the auction will run (in slots or human-readable time)
- Block Interval -- How frequently new supply is released (in Solana slots)
Longer auctions allow more time for price discovery but delay the launch. See Choosing Auction Parameters for guidance.
Step 3: Bidding Parameters
Configure the pricing mechanics:
- Floor Price -- The minimum clearing price. The auction will never sell tokens below this price.
- Tick Spacing -- The granularity of price levels. Smaller spacing means more precise pricing.
- Minimum Bid Amount -- The smallest bid the auction will accept.
Step 4: Liquidity Configuration
Define how auction proceeds are allocated using basis points (BPS):
- Auction Allocation -- Percentage of tokens sold through the CCA
- Liquidity Pool Allocation -- Percentage of tokens paired with raised funds to seed the Raydium pool
- Team Allocation -- Percentage reserved for the creator team (held in escrow)
The total of all allocations must equal 10,000 BPS (100%). A common split is 60% auction, 30% LP, 10% team, but you can adjust based on your goals.
Step 5: Review and Submit
Review all your parameters on the preview screen. Double-check everything -- most parameters cannot be changed after the auction starts.
Signing Transactions
After confirming, you will be prompted to sign three transactions in sequence:
- Create Launch Step 1 -- Creates the Token-2022 mint with metadata and the launch configuration account
- Create Launch Step 2 -- Initializes token and currency escrow accounts
- Create Launch Step 3 -- Creates the CCA auction and activates the launch
Each transaction must be approved individually in your wallet. If any transaction fails, the process can be retried from where it left off.
Creating a launch requires SOL for transaction fees and account rent. The exact amount depends on your token's configuration but is typically under 0.1 SOL.
Once all three transactions confirm, your auction is live and bidders can start participating immediately.
